PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES:
Performance is an invaluable educational tool for those students wishing to pursue a career in dance. It is assumed all students at LEB-LEAD will perform in the production that is offered every spring as part of the LEB Performance Season unless informed otherwise. Should families choose not to participate, they should contact their Primary Instructor or the School Director before Production Fees are due at the end of February.
At the beginning of Term II a cast list and a listing of rehearsal dates is posted for families and students to consider for participation. These rehearsals include a number of Saturdays from Feb. through May with rehearsals occurring from 12:30-4:00 plus Theatre Week. Participation in the Spring Production is contingent on payment of a Production Fee ($40 +$15 for every additional performance piece thereafter) which is due by the end of February.
Should any student, from the community or from within the school - company or recreational track - choose to work more closely with the resident and guest choreographers at LEB, they can audition to be in the Jr. or Senior Companies. These auditions are held twice a year and are open to the public.
As in any audition, once accepted - the dancer is given a term of contract. The contract for the LEB Sr. Company is a nine month contract involving an agreement based on a schedule of commitments; class schedules, rehearsals, educational outreach dates and performances. The contract for the LEB Jr. Company is very similar; a required course of study at LEAD, rehearsal and performance dates. Students already in the Company Track of study need only successfully continue with their current course load of dance classes and academic course load to fulfill this aspect of their commitment as an LEB Jr. Company member.
Students and families participating with the Jr. Company will also be required to agree to the level of company track classes at LEAD required for their level. A listing of rehearsal dates and times as well as performance dates will also need to be agreed upon. This "contract" will be a verbal (and written) agreement required of all LEB Jr. and Sr. Company members should they choose to participate with the LEB companies.
While audition is not required of LEAD Company Track students, it is an integral part of the performance process. If you have a student that would like to be considered for the LEBjrC and would like to attend the Term II Audition, but is unable to - please have them contact the School Director, directly. Students currently registered in the Company Track of study at LEB-LEAD will automatically be considered as candidates for placement within the LEBjrC unless families would prefer conference to determine the student's interest and ability.
